Bangladesh made a significant improvement in the health of women and children and achieved reducing child mortality of Millennium Development Goal (#4) and is on track to reduce maternal mortality(#5a).
Between 1990 and 2010, maternal mortality in Bangladesh decreased from 574/100 000 to 194/100 000 LBs. under 5 mortality decreased from 151/1000 to 53/1000 live births (LBs). The infant mortality rate fell less rapidly from 87/1000 to 43/1000 LBs over the last 18 years. In 2010, the United Nations recognized Bangladesh for its exceptional progress towards MDG #4 and #5a to reduce child and maternal mortality in the face of many socioeconomic challenges. CQR team members are involve with number of maternal and child health related studies.
From January 2020, CQR is working on a maternal anemia project “Formative Research to inform IFA questionnaire Development” in collaboration with an international consultant, James Lee, Nutrition International and BRAC.
